Light of Liberty

Well this certainly turned out to be a bigger story than I ever imagined it would be and it's actually my most popular. I know there are many questions and I'm sure there are things people don't understand about the story so let's get started.

1) What kind of Luke and Leia pairing is it?

No incest people. It's strictly brother and sister even though they tend to flirt around a little throughout the story, it never goes beyond that. But even that is eventually address as the story progresses because I realize I can’t just say they didn’t think of each other in that way at some point. I do address that they had every intention of staying together no matter how they had to do it after the truth is revealed and there is a little confusion and conflict about it, but nothing really big. I know I could play with that possibility, like some authors have, but I decided not to. Save that for another story, if I can get my head around doing that.

2) When do Luke and Leia meet Darth Vader?

They will, but I couldn't just rush into it. I know exactly how. Let's just say they'll really have no choice but to.

3) How did Leia get her mother's japor snippet?
This one is actually in the story but in case someone wants to know before I get accused of being inaccurate, in my universe, it was never buried with her. In fact, that snippet is the reason there's a story because Leia lost it and went back to get it when pirates raided a ship she and her family were receiving transport on. I love writing stories where one little seemingly insignificant change turns the whole star wars universe around and I though giving Leia the japor snippet to have did that.

4) Does Leia ever meet the Organa’s and find out they were her adopted parents?

I think the real question is, will she care if she does meet them? The answer is, yes she’ll eventually find out, but no she won’t care. By the time she does find out, it’ll be after she finds out Vader is her father and learns who her mother is and as said in the story, she doesn’t really care to know about her adoptive parents. She was taken away before they could really be set into her memory. But she can’t ever forget her birth parents. Not only are they bound by blood, but the force and it seems to me like force memory goes way deeper than physical brain memory does.

5) Luke and Leia would never do some of the things they do in Light of Liberty in the original trilogy. How can they still be considered in character?

I have not at all changed the essence of who Luke and Leia are. I am very conscious of that when I write the story, but given Leia’s new background, some of the things that were drilled into her by Bail and her aunts in their effort to make her a proper princess aren’t there. And so while she retains that regality about herself and some of her diplomatic tendencies, the fact that she had to fight as a slave makes her more aggressive and a little less tolerant of things.

The same can be said for Luke. He’s the champion for the light side of the force and for the jedi, but he habitually uses the dark side in your fic. Well in my fic no one has taught him that there is a dark side and as far as Luke and Leia are concerned, as long as their intentions are good, who cares how they use their powers. It’s not until chapter eleven that they ever learn there’s a dark side of the force at all. But like Leia, Luke still retains the qualities that make him who he is. The things like the willingness to see the good in others, and his loyalty to his friends, but since Luke has seen a lot more than he had in the original trilogy of course it hardens him a little, though not to the extent it does later.
